Shrub up to 2 m. Branchlets black brown, puberulous and glabrescent, the internodes usually very short or even obscure.
Leaves chartaceous to subcoriaceous, obovate or elliptic-oblong, oblanceolate, obtuse-rounded at apex, attenuate at base, the margins usually cartilaginous, the lateral veins 5–10 on each side of the midrib; petioles about 2 mm long. Inflorescences terminal; pedicels 1.5–2 mm long, articulated at base;
Flowers yellowish, 10–12 mm long, sparsely pubescent; calyx-lobes 4, ovate, 2–3 mm long; stamens 8, the anthers linear, the filaments very short; disk 2, free, linear; obvoid, sparsely hairy or glabrous at top.
Fruit broadly ellipsoid, red.
